Since day one of assuming her role, Mayor Madeleine Rogero has consistently placed an emphasis on sustainability projects and initiatives through economically feasible and practical methods. Under her leadership, an Energy and Sustainability Taskforce was established and the Energy and Sustainability Initiative was created to help make Knoxville a greener, more sustainable city.


We are excited to announce that after months of planning, UT Recycling is merging with the Office of Sustainability. The merger is an attempt to achieve carefully considered goals related to facilities management and sustainability at UT.


Shannon Campbell was voted by the Committee on the Campus Environment as the April Sustainability Champion. This monthly award recognizes a UT faculty, staff or student who exemplifies what it means to “Make Orange Green.”
